hi all,
i use evince to read some A4 ebooks, here i have 2 question :
a. is it a normal situation to spend about 1 min to open a 375 pages ebook? before that , a "Loading" prompt message is displayed on every page.
b. can or how evince remember the page i read last time and jump to it when i reopen the book? thanks.

based from my experience:

a. it depends on the zoom level, the higher the zoom, the longer it loads so make sure you set it to a far (but readable) level. setting the view to continuous and also enabling side panel thumbnails also prolong the loading time

b. yes it remembers the last page and all the settings like rotation and zoom

Yep, evince can be quite slow on big texts. I sometimes use the Nokia build in reader instead for this reason alone.

You may also consider to convert the pdf into a format fbreader can read. PDFs are often not the ideal medium for the tiny display of the N8xx.

You might want to break it into smaller units with pdftk or pdftk Builder: http://www.angusj.com/pdftkb/
