Hi,

I have recently been using the N800 and the OS2008.

I much prefer the newer side bar (navigation launcher) on the N800 compared to the old N770 version.

Does anyone know if I can get the N800 sidebar running on a N770?

I have done searches but can not find anyone doing this.

I am currently running the OS2007HE edition.

If the exact binary from OS2008 cant be used, does anyone know how to disable the old 2007 sidebar. Then I could perhaps hack up a new sidebar and replace it at startup on N770.

Regards

I'm not sure what all's different about the navigator panel from OS2007-OS2008 (It's been a while...), but have you considered trying OS2008HE?

Hi,

Difference between 2006 sidebar and 2008 sidebar: The old one uses smaller icons and is harder to navigate with fingers. New one seems to be a bit nippyier. But that may be the n800 400mhz cpu

I have tried os2008he, it is rather slow and a bit unstable of 770.

Do you know the binary that is launched on 0s2008 for sidebar?
Perhaps I can get the code and try porting it?

Well, it's not a standalone binary, the plugins are all dynamically linked into hildon-desktop.

Look in /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/, they're all (or almost all) in there, but it's probably not as easy as would be nice. (i.e., I think you'll have to bring more stuff along with it if you try copying binaries, or recompile more stuff with it if you go that route.)
