There's an NES and SNES port of this game but I'd like to find the arcade version. Has anyone seen this around anywhere before for NIT or otherwise?

The tablet does have MAME. Its on the main website (maemo.org)

Edit: Never tried it, so I don't know if it works (FYI)

Thanks. I always thought mame was just capable of really ancient pacman & 1942 type games. I'll look into it further. Maybe it'll even run street fighter? I'm really enjoying mtpo on ines.

According to mame's wikipedia page, "As of version 0.127, released Aug 19, 2008, the emulator now supports 3827 unique games and 7185 actual ROM image sets and is growing all the time. However, not all of the games in MAME are currently playable; 930 ROM sets are marked as not working in the current version, and 38 are not actual games but BIOS ROM sets."

You can check an arcade game's status/compatibility with mame here. Doing a quick search on "hit the ice" reveals it works good on mame. However, how well the mame port for the tablet performs is another thing.
