I have had my n800 for about 5 months now, i am pretty much aquatinted with it. I do not want to dish out the cash for a Bluetooth keyboard. So i looked into getting a USB keyboard to work with the n800. I found the guide on tablet-school.

My issue is that when i downloaded and then tried installing USB control, it told me that USB Control cannot be installed. I don't know why and i have not run into anyone with the same problem, although i haven't searched very-hard. Any advice would be helpful.

Also just trowing it in, would a:
n800 > mini-USB [male] To USB [Female] > USB keyboard.
Instead of the suggested:
n800 > Nokia supplied cable > [F] to [F] USB > USB keyboard.

Would that work, assuming i get USB control installed and working.

I guess you sort of answered my question, thank you.

My issue with USB control still stands.

Exactly what you have? If so, then you don't need any software, because that adaptor does everything automatically for you.

Or is that not actually what you have?

I hadn't tried using a keyboard for i was under the impression i NEEDed the USB Control program.

Edit: I just tried 4 keyboard with it and none of them works. i might not have exactly what that is.

Edit2: This is what i have.
I believe it is the same thing but i just don't know.

Unless you ordered from that website, then that's not exactly what you have. It's got a pin grounded that the adaptor you ordered from Amazon does not.

Either modify the one you have (details can be found elsewhere) to properly ground the correct pin or order up the adaptor I linked you earlier in the thread.

While you waiting to get one of those, you can try some of these, or wiki, or http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...t=20997&page=7 thread #63. And search for Mara's post too.

Is this just random spam to get people to click the link in your "signature"? :/

What GA is saying is that if you bought that specific adapter from that store then you would not have to bother installing any software to switch from host to client mode. The N800 would do it for you automatically.

I love this place - such a wealth of knowledge. If somewhat acidic at times.
