Haven't tested it yet, but the prospect of paying $40/yr to stream
my own music doesn't sound too appealing.

Wow. That's really stupud. For that price, I could buy a 1gb card every month.Or, it would pay for the power to run my home box, so I could run orb.

Still, it's good to see some service companies paying attention to the 770.

Yeah, it's kind of re-inventing the wheel if you ask me. I use the 770's audio player and create streaming music playlists from music found on 3pm and elsewhere around the web.

AAm I missing something, or are you really missing something?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for $40 a year, not month, I can listen to my entire music collection,
on my 770, as long as I have a connection to the internet?
How is that stupid?? To me it sounds like the best thing ever!
Have you dowloaded the app? The sound quality on the demo tracks is excellent!
Don't know about you, but to me, this is the future of music, today!

I don't know guys...this seems like a very cool idea, and at just over $3 a month, it's nice to not have to worry about loading up an MMC card with music. I know all the Shoutcast streams are available for free, but this Oboe applet seems to let you do Sideloading of tracks into your locker. Basically you can add or remove individual songs no matter where you are without having to worry about a certain stream playing what you want...

This applet, along with the release of Gizmo today...wow, things are really happening fast with the 770 now!

Uhmmm, the gizmo project (sipphone.com) link is in the bookmarks before release...the mp3tune link is in the tableteer home page before release and finally the booth companies are from the same guy: http://www.michaelrobertson.com/ check other Michael's projects like this: http://www.ajaxlaunch.com

This is clear agreement between Nokia and Michael...nice

I just noticed this also. I hadn't ever seen the mp3tunes link on Tableteer, but I was looking around on Gizmo's site and saw the reference to Mr. Robertson.

Guess he must be a big 770 fan...good for us!

There's a bit more to know about this too:
The applet blows and is ugly. Both can be fixed. I did a simple writeup on a simple hack to change the UIs 'theme' at my blog. But what is really amazing(!!) is that now mp3tunes has an API!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The MP3tunes Oboe API consists mainly of an easy to use REST interface which gives you access to all data for a user within the MP3tunes Locker service."
Wow. This means I can use perl to make it work however I want it to. Awesome. Check out the documentation here

Also, the online mp3 'locker' app uses mouse functionality that is totally incompatible with a touchscreen interface..There's really no way to get music to play except via the oboe applet, which means you're stuck using playlists. But now they have a mobile rendition of the mp3 locker at: http://mp3tunes.com/m. It will serve you .pls files that the media player can load up. Very nice. I now have unlimited streaming music storage/playback anywhere I'm online for free! And at no large cost to system performance, unlike some of the other mp3 storage sites I've tried. Pretty sweet!

There is an update, but no code yet.
It's not an applet, but looks like it's better:
