Sorry for the cryptic title...

I'm setting up an N800 with Maemo Mapper for a friend. I flashed it with the latest Diablo, installed MM 1.4.8 (mod 1.1 from nutter that uses a different file format), and paired it with my old GPS receiver, a Wintec G-Rays2 WBT201. Works great! Maemo Mapper is fully functional, as is the Nokia Map program.

I just got a new BT GPS receiver, an i-Blue 747, that I was intending to use for my friends setup, and I would keep the Wintec for my N800. Repeated the BT pairing successfully, but MM refuses to find the 747. I deleted the Wintec instance, no change. I installed MM 2.5.1, no change. All the while Map is working fine. I can switch back to the Wintec, and it still works.

The 747 works fine with my 770 running 1.4.7, so they can play nicely if so inclined.

Is there a secret settings file somewhere I need to edit? The only thing I have not done so far is to reflash, but I view this as a last resort.

Thanks...

Set the Bluetooth GPS to be used in the Location applet under Control Panel (I think that's right off the top of my head), this should now work with map, if not, try again.

Then in maemo-mapper, change the gps to use "Bluetooth" and set the BT MAC to blank (this causes it to use the Control Panel settings).

Thanks for the clarification. Everything works fine now.

I think the confusion arose because I only selected the GPS receiver in the control panel, and neglected to also change the MM setting panel. I did not know that you can leave the address blank to force it to use the control panel setting. (RTFM?)

Of course, there is no GPS control panel in the 770, and I was forced to use the MM setting panel. Then it worked right off the bat.

For me, MM continues to be the most useful tablet application by far.

Thanks, Gnuite.

Don't worry, it's confusing and has caught me out before too.
