I bought a used N800 in August and have so far been almost, but not entirely, very satisfied with it. I'm able to form a WLAN connection to my ADSL router (WPA-PSK, no MAC filtering) nicely and quickly, but that in itself doesn't help much as pretty much nothing gets transmitted. For example, here are the results when pinging google.com:

--- google.com ping statistics ---
56 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 94% packet loss

Obviously, this is useless for anything. FWIW I can connect to open/WEP networks just fine, I haven't been able to test it with other WPA networks. And I'm running Diablo with the latest updates. So any ideas what could be causing this? I do have an unlimited data plan, so I can tether to my phone while I'm home, but it's kind of frustrating not to have a fast connection where I use the IT most. This could be an issue with my router, but it seems unlikely as I'm able to connect to the router with three different laptops (using three different chipsets).

See if you have better results pinging 64.233.187.99 -- maybe your DNS resolution isn't working so well through that router...

That didn't seem to help much unfortunately. But I tried stopping all network traffic from other devices, and surprisingly the connection works - until I do anything else, like send an IM. Surely this is not how it's supposed to work... just surprising that I've no issues using other devices simultaneously. I guess I'll try with another router and see if it helps.

this might be a red-herring, but i read elsewhere about trouble with the os2008 device using a network shared with other devices, improving when it was used in isolation, and the resolution was somthing to do with power-saving on the nokia tablet. sorry this is vague but you might be experiencing the same problem. Use of 802.11n was in the mix too. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=22709

OK, it's official, Wippies sucks balls. Or wait, if it did it would be at least somewhat useful. Changing back to my trusty old A-Link did the trick. Oh well, I didn't pay anything for the Wippies Homebox, the only condition was that I had to use it for a year, which I already have. Any suggestions how to reflash it into something more useful are welcome
