Recently my N800 (July 2007 – heavy user, Diablo) touch screen stops working (no reaction to touching) from time to time. It happens every few days. There seems to be no specific reason, like using or not using or active apps. The touch screen is not locked, because the D-pad is still working. I can scroll.

Solution: Lock the N800 using the buttons (on/off button, scroll down and Central D-pad or “Enter”) and than unlock: the screen is touchable again.

Nevertheless the N800 should not do this and the frequency seems to shorten.

Anyone else ?
Mechanical or software problem ? Any ideas ?
Report to Maemo?

Thanks, Abel.

I had this problem yesterday for the first time. Coincidentally (or not), my battery was low.

Thanks for the tip on how to fix it if/when it happens again.

I lost the use of my "+", full screen, and "-" keys about 2 months ago (N800 Jan 07), They would work off and on for a while but now they are dead as a door nail.

Sorry, but I don't get it, dying is the progressive of "to die", not "to dye" (which would be dyeing).

I had a similar problem with my eight month old N800 . I had to ship it back to Nokia, and they promptly shipped a replacement device to me.

Here is my original post on the problem
