You can use the global preference in Preferences/Other: "Synchronise offline folders as soon as possible", which fetches bodies for synchronised folders as soon as they're updated.

One funny behaviour:
Just after I go offline Claws ask me if I want to synchronize folders now.
This is a bit annoying b/c now it's too late, anyway, the tablet is already offline.
And also I don't need this message box, does anybody know how to turn it off?

does anybody know if it is possible to make Claws download headers + bodies whenever I check for new mail using IMAP?
I am aware of the "synchronize for offline use" menu item, but that needs to be triggered manually which I sometimes forget.
