Hi, this is probably the most cheeky request ever.

*don't worry i think i found a way*

The new maemo 5 is coming, and it is going to use Clutter.

I do all my current maemo development directly on my n810 itself and whilst this works for coding my liqbase now, it is limited and doesn't allow me to do everything.

I do not have a linux desktop here to test and play with some ideas I have been discussing and I don't have much money.

If anyone has an unused touchscreen laptop or slate device lying around would you want to give it a new home for Christmas?

It will be cared for and used specifically for developing Maemo oriented applications.
I do not have much loose money, so I could only offer a token amount.

please let me know if you can help.

Maybe give some examples of models which have this?

The only one I've ever played with outside a shop has been a "HP Compaq TC1000 Tablet PC"

http://www.gumtree.com/london/41/32136041.html

I know all manufacturer produce them, but prices have always been outside my bracket so I've not followed that closely (no point in getting hopes u p if i can't afford one..)

HP tx2550ed
and HP tx2650ed

12" touch and swivel screen laptops , full fledged, so not with low power such as the ASUS EEE.

indeed, those 12" hp's are interesting, and somewhat acceptable in price.

oh, and one could always mount the touch screen hardware on a eeepc oneself.

Yes, I have a tx2000 and they are quite nice machines for the price. The tx2500 is only a slight processor bump and ATI instead of NVIDIA graphics, IIRC, while the predecessor tx1000 had touchscreen only, without the active digitizer.

I have a working Fujitsu Stylistic 500 with 16MB DRAM card, two styluses, keyboard, external floppy, one small (350 MB?) Type-III PCMCIA drive, two 2 GB Type-II PCMCIA drives, environmental hard case, several batteries, and a battery charger. You probably don't want something with less power and a worse screen than your Internet tablet though.

wondering if there will be a new maemo contributors contest ... something like a new n900 ...

but given the economic crisis ... i'm doubting that
