How about showing the star rating for a song / podcast episode in some of the empty space between each one? (Just a small graphic). It would really help to keep track of everything

On that topic, it would be awesome if one could have his music sorted by rating, too.

There's already (since beta 01) a "By Rating" sorting. Just scroll down the music list. There are so many options there that a lot become hidden down in the list.

About the drawing, we are already drawing the info (you can show or hide it) and in our experience (youtube) drawing the icons like this really slow down the list. So we do only if it is really really needed.
Maybe not the case (still) for podcast? But of course, the more the user asks, bigger the chance to change it

you can add it as text (*****) and it shouldn't slowdown the list

On Diablo, you can also use the star characters (filled and not filled) from Unicode. OS 2006, OS 2007, and Chinook cannot render them without additional fonts, however.
