Just got the N810 and installed a few applications. Now the device memory has less than 40mb left. But I still want to install other applications.
Can I install the OS on the internal memory (2GB) or an external microSD (with miniSD adapter)?
Any solutions?
I did a search but didn't find the solutions, sorry if it has been posted.

See this for a start http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=19639 just search the forum for SD Boot/Clone. There are many threads about this. But it is quite tricky so there may be other issues such as Root if you have only just got the tablet. Search the forum for enabling root access.;-)

suoxin, cloning is good, though you probably want this thread. If you don't want to clone, know that (a) 40mb is actually quite a bit of room for apps; make sure you aren't putting a lot of images and docs, etc., onto the device memory. You want to put those on a removable card. And (b) you can get rid of stuff like the foreign-language manuals, the Getting Started movie, ...

By default all applications install configured to use device memory foe data. You can move that data to the Internal 2GB and configure the aps to look there for data. The Map application is an example of an ap with a large data base than be relocated.

The "Map" application is an example of an application that stores its data on the internal card by default.

He might have been talking about maemo mapper which he has worked with more and its default is to store it's files on the internal flash. You are right, the default map application (which is almost useless in my opinion without a subscription to wayfinder) does have its maps saved on the internal memory card at purchase.

His concept still stands in that you need to direct many of the programs to save their files on the SD cards instead of the internal flash and it will save space for programs.

Then he should have said "Maemo Mapper".

Not what I was objecting to.

I know you weren't. I just wanted to make sure the OP new that this might be a good thing to look into depending on what programs he/she was using.

Is there a way to configure the "Map" application (by which I mean the wayfinder map application that comes installed by default) to save its maps in the removable memory card instead of the internal memory card? Thank you!
