With the status light turned on all the time. I know that it warns you that its not cool for power management, but I haven't noticed a difference in battery life with mine set to '4'. I figure the actual power draw cant be more than 10ma x 7hrs or 4.6% use over the course of a full charge. Well worth it for the cool factor.

A cool benefit from a dim always-on light is that you can see at a glance whether the tablet wants you, as either off or bright now indicates a flashing pattern unambiguously.

Yeah the alert patterns all take priority but rather than blinking on & off they just flash brighter blue.

only thing i use that for is to see if the battery is fully charged without having to poke the screen awake.

to bad i have to go into gconf to turn that feature on...

Hmmm... So I'm obviously wrong, but I could have sworn that the overriding patterns were flashing to black last night when I tried it.

It would be nice if there was a way to accomplish that, though.

which firmware are you running? did you modify any other patterns in the mce.ini file besides the power on one?
