I have a NAS device which I can access via XP or Vista using the map network drive options. How do I do it on an N800 with OS2008? I would just like to view or listen to my media files.

if you like to listen to your media files, I recommend that you use media streamer (installable from application manager). It requires that your NAS has a upnp server - that way you can stream music to your N800.

Be carrefull that some constructor nammed their product NAS some product which isn't.

Exemple : Linksys SC101. A dual hard drive bay device which use a proprietary protocol which can be use only with a proprietary driver which is available for windows xp and vista only.

I have a QNAP machine which is quite good.

I used mplayer and tried the "shared folders" directory. All the machines in my house with shared folders then appeared (including the NAS). I clicked on the NAS and went through the various directories until I found a film and double clicked it (I also tried the select button).

I was now in GMPlauncher (which might be part of mplayer) but it didn't have the file I'd clicked on screen. Instead it was showing a list of avi files found on the memory cards. Maybe I need to update mplayer to actually play the file???

Under the shared media folder I found TwonkyMedia which seems to ignore the existing folder structure and just group all the mp3 and avi files together. I double clicked on an avi file and again got the GMPlauncher but without my file - weird.
