Have you sniffed the wire? Is this how you know there are packets flying? My guess is that the N810 is updating weather, RSS feeds, itsself, etc. But an analysis of the packet dump would be more helpful.
I'm not quite sure what "standing network traffic" is? Could you elaborate?

I use the Connection Manager (Settings=> Connection Manager). With OMweather, RSS reader client, e-mail client and all mini app off I have:
Time= 60 min
Received = 605 kB
Sent= 117 kB
I was not able to have Application Manager off.
I would like to know what software request this packets.
The Connection Manager shows the Status of the connection.
