Anyone know how to get the Maemo version of Skype to make the DTMF tones that a normal phone makes? These are necessary in order to navigate voice mail hell.

Also does anyone know how to enter a text skype-in number like echo123 for testing?

You don't enter echo123 in the phone number section, instead you add it to your contacts and select it from there.
Press 'menu' (the button) or click top left to get the drop-down menu, select 'add contact', enter 'echo123' in the search field and add the contact that is returned. Then you can select it from the list of contacts.

Thanks for the work around. Now I just need to figure out how to get the DTMF tones generated and looped to the mic.

You could get a pocket digital recorder and record the key tones yourself.. find one on a keychain or one that slips into your wallet
