Hey guys,

I just finished testing my znax game a bit and everything seems to work good for an initial release. It took me a while to figure out how to create a deb file but i finally managed to make it.

You can find more info (from the gp2x version) of the game on my website here :
http://www.willemssoft.be/index.php?...details&id=224
edit : removed download it's availible in maemo extra's - dev

Here's some extra info related to the N810 (diablo) version :
L changes skins, (you can create extra skins if you'd like to just place em in /usr/games/znax/skins/<yourskinname>
+ and - changes volume (on the keyboard)
your names for the highscores have to be entered using the little dpad for now and the middle dpad button to confirm.

I don't know if it'll run on the N800 or the N810 wimax since i don't own those (only got my N810 about a week ago).

anyway let me know what you think of it

cheers

It has dependencies: libsdl-gfx1.2-4 and libsdl-ttf2.0-0 -- they're both in extras, but even if I download them manually I can't install them (Incompatible application package), and without them the installation fails because packages are missing.
Any idea what I can do?

stangri: I can apt-get both of those packages just fine (I just did, to check). Sorry to ask, but you weren't by any chance downloading the _i386 debs, were you? I believe that's the error that would give. _armel is for NITs

ah yes i forgot to mention the dependencies, i'm sorry about that. They should be availble in the maemo extra's repos.

I added a new section on my website under "my software" for the nokia N810. Although my site doesn't display correctly on the tablet you can still download it using the internet tablet. (I added a direct link to the deb file in the news section and will do this every time i release something for the N810)

jaem: I was downloading the armel packages for diablo. thanks, apt-get helped.

PS. I thought the whole idea of the repositories is that if some app required the libs which are in the repo, they (the libs) could be downloaded and installed automatically. Or does that only happen if the original app package has been created some special way?

The idea is to put both applications and libraries into a repository

I requested upload permissions for my packages to the maemo extras / developer repository's but it hasn't been accepted yet. Once and if i get access i'll put them there as well so that libraries (which are already availible from there) can be automaticly downloaded.

I first thought on creating a repository of my own with the needed libraries and my (upcomming) games but it seems like double work if one could upload it to the maemo extras repositories directly.

Ah, so it's not enough for the libs to be in the repo, the application itself also has to be in the repo for the libs to be downloaded automatically?

Thanks callanish,

The packaging and repositorys stuff is all new to me but i'm quickly catching on.

My znax and rubido game is now availible from the maemo extra's developpers repository. (I'll leave it there for a while before i promote it to normal extras)

I'm not sure when and what my next gp2x game will be that i port but i'm guessing either the checkers game or the dynamate game since they are easier to implement touch screen controls for. i'm not even sure if i should port my sokoban game since there are already a few sokoban's out there. I think i might have a hard time porting those (sokoban, blips, blockdude) when it comes to controls but i'll figure something out. I'm also uncertain if they would run fast enough on the device (this is not the device fault but me still being new to c/c++ and everything that comes with it). Only time will tell.

Anyway to make things short :
next game either checkers or dynamate
Both znax and rubido are availible from maemo extras developpers repository

edit :
I'm not going to port any of my games just yet , decided i'll make a new one for the NIT :
here's a mockup picture :

cheers
