I am having some problems with my maps. I have a 2 GB card in and plan to use the built in map instead of maemo mapper cause I seem to have messed that up before.

So anyway I try to download USA East and it starts to download but then says it "Failed to download" after a good 5 minutes. I downloaded Australia just to see if it would run into the same problem and it didnt. So what gives?

So thats problem #1. I would love to just download it on the PC and stick it on the card and put in on the N810 but I havent figured out how to do that. PLUS that leads me into problem number 2

I had USA East in it before. But Then I try to download USA West and it says I dont have enough memory. WTF? there is a 2GB card in there and it tries to load it to the device and not the card. There is no where I can see where you can select where you want the map to go. I am not a Linux head nor do I feel comfortable in source code or CMD line at all.

I simply want to get maps so I can put on the device and I have the storage to do so. But it seems pretty closed and I can't figure out how to do so.

So problem # 1 is my maps not downloading and problem #2 is I would LOVE to download all available maps cause I have stacks of space on the card I can do so.

Can anyone help ?

Move the "Map" folder to the card you wish to use. Then, go to: http://www.navicoretech.com/Consumer...B/wfnavigator/

This is another example of apparently-reduced Wayfarer support. Instead of fixing the broken feature they give you a workaround. Although we should count our blessings that we have the workaround! I actually moved my Wayfarer maps off my internal card & I'm just going to use Maemomapper.

Can you provide a way to move the folder properly? I dont want to f it up. On the website it says "Copy folder named "mapdata_<REGION>" to the folder "Map" on your Internet Tablet internal memory."

It is saying to save it to internal memory. Do I just go in file manager and move it? Where can it be found?

The "mapdata_<REGION>" folders are compressed within the ZIP files you downloaded from Navicoretech's web site. Did you download the ZIP files? Where did you save them? Did you unzip them?

If you downloaded and unzipped the files on your tablet, then the folders are on your tablet where you unzipped them. If you downloaded and unzipped the files on your PC/Mac desktop/notebook, then the folders are there.

If you downloaded and unzipped the files on your tablet, then yes, you should be able to use File Manager to move the "mapdata_<REGION>" folders into the Map folder on your memory card.
  1. Select a "mapdata_<REGION>" folder.
  2. Open the File Manager's menu.
  3. Open the "Edit" sub-menu.
  4. Select "Copy".
  5. Open the "Map" folder on your memory card.
  6. Open the File Manager's menu.
  7. Open the "Edit" sub-menu.
  8. Select "Paste".

If, instead, you downloaded and unzipped the files on your PC/Mac desktop/notebook, then:
  1. Connect your tablet to your desktop/notebook with tablet's USB cable.
  2. Wait for your desktop/notebook to mount the memory cards in your tablet as removable drives.
  3. Use Explorer/Finder on your desktop/notebook to move the "mapdata_<REGION>" folders to "Map" on the appropriate drive.
  4. Safely unmount the removable drives using the System Tray icon/Eject/whatever is appropriate for your computer.

In either case, if the tool you use to move the "mapdata_<REGION>" folders to the "Map" folder warns that you'll be overwriting existing files, choose to go ahead with replacing the old files. You likely have some odds and ends in your Map folder from when you tried, and failed, to download maps previously. Overwriting those files is fine.

OKk I am going to download them to the PC, and unzip them on the PC and then will manually copy them over. But Should I move "MAP" on the tablet over to the Card before I manually move them over?

If you are going to move the Map folder from the built-in, 2GB card on your N810 to a higher capacity card in the external slot, then I recommend doing so before you move all your downloaded maps into place. There's no sense in moving that large amount of data twice.

OK I guess I didnt ask the right question. I am currently downloading maps on to the PC in which I will unzip when they are done. I thenwant those maps to be on the card so before copying those unzipped files over to the N810 do I change the "map" directory to the card first?

Here is what I mean, under "Internal Memory" there is a folder called "map" and a sub folder called "mapdata" what were to happen if I used file manager to move "map" this to the card? And should I do this before moving any maps over on to the N810?
