I would like to purchase some specific eBooks (probably from Amazon.com).

Is there a way I can read them on the n810?

What is the best way to go about this? Thanks

Since this is to go against the designs of Amazon AND Apple, both of which want to hold your book captive and keep you from using them as you wish, it's unlikely that you can read them on the N810.

If there was a way to do it, I think it would be so clunky that it wouldn't be worth it -- for example, if you could broadcast a picture of the iPhone and read the iPhone's screen... yuck, there would be zillions of problems.

If I want to purchase a new book in PDF format for reading on the n810, are there stores or services that offer new ebooks in this format? Of course I am willing to pay for the ebooks.

I know I can get free ebooks in PDF format, but they are all older books (or classics) and the selection is limited. I'm looking for a way to purchase new books and read them on the n810.

Installing Mobipocket from the first link (http://www.tablet-guru.com/2008/02/2...on-the-tablet/)

1. Go to Access Garnet VM site. On the right side, you will see “Download Garnet VM for” with 3 blue icons. Click the one that suits your current OS (or the line below to see which OS you are running). Fill in the form.
2. Go to your email inbox, you will find the email from Garnet, download the application.
3. Send the garnet-vm_xxx.deb file to your IT (internet tablet), either via bluetooth or USB. If you’re doing this on the IT, no need to do that, of course.
4. Open File Manager on the IT, browse to the .deb file that you just sent and double click it. This will take you to the Application Manager and install the Garnet VM. It will install in the Extras pane on the IT.
5. On the IT, go to Extras, Garnet VM. This will launch the application. To the lower right, click on “Settings”. In the “Storage Heap” pane, up the size to 64MBytes, then click “Save”. It will ask you to reformat the memory, just say yes. It won’t format your IT memory, just Garnet’s virtual memory. This step is ESSENTIAL if you want to get a couple of ebooks on, as they will use this allowed memory.
6. Now you need to download these 3 files from Mobipocket: bluepalm.pdb , mathlib.prc and mobipocket.prc. Do the same as in Step 3 to send them to the IT. (Files taken from here, no science fiction *wink*)
7. On the IT, in Garnet VM, on the right, there’s an “Install” icon. Click it. Now browse to the folder where you sent the 3 files you just downloaded. Select the bluepalm.pdb file and click “Select”. It will give you an “Application successfully installed” notice, say Ok. At this step, nothing will change in the Garnet VM. Do the same for the mathlib.prc and the mobipocket.prc file. It is important that you install these files IN THIS ORDER. I tried doing it otherwise, doesn’t seem to work *confused*
8. When you have finished installing these files, you will see that a Mobipocket icon appears with the other 5 icons in Garnet. You’re ready to roll!

I am not sure if you are still looking for a reply, but I use both Mobipocket and eReader with my Garnet GVM and am very pleased with both of them.

Thanks. Yes, I would appreciate all the feedback people care to offer. I'm new to the NIT and I would like to hear more opinions about ebooks and readers for the n810.

EDIT: I read that the screen size in the GVM is small. Is that true?

Noooo the screen size is not small...it was in the older version of GVM but the newer version is Much larger and better. give it a try!

Wowio.com has pdf books, some new, for a small price. They also have free pdf ebooks.

What addtional eBook options will we have with the N900?

I know there must be threads here mentioning whether or not there will be an Amazon Kindle software app for the N900, but I can't find them...

Can someone post here whether we'll have a Kindle app for the N900 soon?
