Look for typing errors in the repository entries, especially the slash at the end of the URL or (my favourite) actually typing "N/A" instead of leaving the field blank (don't ask).

This "tool" was designed by a braindead *****: Would it have been that hard to code it so that it would skip incorrect entries, rather than grind to an oh so userfriendy halt?

Sheesh Nokia, simply porting Synaptic was too difficult?

I fully agree with Karel on the functionality. Graceful error handling is to be expected these days. Since Application Manager refuses to update for me at all, I feel the pain...

I'm so grateful that we have this forum with which to share information and experiences. I've just had the same problem and thanks to you all I solved it -- by deleting all of my recently added sites (none of which worked anyway). I frequently misspell things, even with my Freedom keyboard. I can't believe the developers couldn't have come up with a more meaningful and helpful error message.

The list actually does refresh the correct entries. At least it did when mine was broken. It just says it doesn't.

Well, mine sometimes did and sometimes didn't. I haven't found out how it makes up its mind about it.

See my reply on your identical question in another thread (which is, incidentally, not considered good form to do).
