Hi everybody,

This is the start of the list that contains all the names of the Maemo Community members who would like to participate in the co-creation session on the 8th of October in Amsterdam. (the day before the Summit)

The Selection Process
We want to find the right people by asking you to recommend your peers, based on their expertise with the topic, as well as their activities within the Maemo Community. Of course, you can also apply yourself.
We (Fronteer Strategy) will contact the people that are recommended or willing to participate to speak with them in person. Eventually we will choose the best mix of participants together with Nokia.

The Profile
We are looking for a perfect mix of backgrounds, expertise's and personalities. All participants should be open-minded, motivating, creative and like to work in groups (communicative, think along, critical, listening & responding)

What we do are expert and lead-user co-creation sessions (if interested, please visit www.welcometorooftop.com for more information). This means that we are looking for inspirational people, visionaries, thought-leaders in their area of expertise. This can be either practical (developers, lead-users) or theoretical (researchers).
Of course it helps if your expertise is linked to the topic of this whole project:

"Creativity on the Move"
- Instant and fun media editing/remixing/sharing (combining, editing & sharing pictures, music and video on your device)
- Serendipitous (accidental/surprising) content discovery (semantic browsing for content stored on your device and internet)

As the results will also be presented by participants & Nokia at the Maemo Summit, it is convenient if you would visit the Summit as well.
One very important logistical point: it is a full-day co-creation session, from 9:00 till 18:00. It is not possible to attend half of the day.

The Longlist
So far, the following people have showed their interest in participating in this co-creation session, or were recommended by someone else:
  • ARJWright
  • Twaelti
  • Reggie Suplido
  • Texrat
  • andy80 (if able to arrive early on the 8th...?)
  • Timsamoff (recommended)
  • lcuk
  • Stupid Little Genius (recommended)
  • zerojay (depending on sponsorship)
  • VDVsx
  • SJGadsby
  • Architengi

If you already showed your interest, and I forgot to put you on the list, I'm sorry, please let me know that you want to be on there!
If you were recommended, but not interested or unable to participate, please let me know as well.

When applying, please send me your motivation for participation and contact-information. I will then put you on the list.

Looking forward to your reactions!

Marieke,

I would like to help. (even more so now I don't have a job)
my liqbase framework is starting to become flexible and viable enough to create anything we can think of

I would also like to suggest 'stupid little genius' from the forums.
her artwork was spectacular and she has a natural talent

jane got involved in the maemo mascot thread a couple of months ago and contributed some of the most memorable mascot suggestions

I'll put you on the list anyway.
I suspect most people will arrive thursday evening or friday morning for the Summit. For the co-creation session you would have to arrive thursday morning... Keep me updated!

Hello,

I would like to know a bit more about the 'terms' of the session.

The participants have to sign some sort of NDA's ?

What is the expected number of participants for the session ? (community+Nokia+partners)

The participants will be divided in small groups or they will work as a big group always ?

Thanks!!

Hi,
In general Nokia uses a NDA for these kind of sessions. However, because the results will be shared with the Maemo Community and during the Summit afterwards, this NDA will be different than usual. I know Nokia is currently thinking about how to best arrange this, I'm not sure yet what will be in the NDA.

The group will exist of the following:
6-8 Nokia Nokia employees from different departments
8-10 Lead users and experts, of which:
- 4-5 Maemo members
- 4-5 non-Maemo members
3 team members of Fronteer Strategy, who will moderate the session during the whole day.

During the day you will work both within smaller subgroups and with the group as a whole. Discussions and presentations of sub-group results will be with the whole group.
Concept development will be within smaller subgroups.
The subgroups will consist of people from Nokia, Maemo-members and non-Maemo members. During the session there will be visualisers who will immediately draw all ideas, discussion topics and concepts, which makes it very easy to share results with the group.

hope this clarifies it a bit!

Are you also interested in participating?

Good, this is exactly the reply that I was expecting, but you never know.
I already participated in similar brainstorming sessions, in other fields, and the last one wasn't very pleasant to me, by the simple fact that we were an big group working together all the time, end up to be very unproductive, but you guys know that better than I do for sure .

There are many ways to do these kind of sessions. We have a lot of experience with co-creation and facilitation of these sessions. We also find it very important to keep an eye on the energy levels of all participants. It's fun but also hard work and by making sure that the creativity and energy levels stay up, it's even more fun!
