SDK is for linux and maemo is also linux, so is possible to install sdk on n900 itself?

Theoretically, yes. Yes, you could.
The best way, I think, would be to make a partition with a copy of the OS, chroot into that partition and install all of the extra SDK libraries. You now have a full SDK environment on-device.

Has anyone tried qole's suggestion on and for the N8X0s?
EDIT: I did follow these directions and was able to successfully compile dhcpcd on the device for OS2008. Which isn't all the big of whoop.
I meant to ask if anyone has tried the whole SDK.

There are some scratchboxisms you'll have to get rid of, but I think it should be doable.
I personally use a debian chroot for my on-device development needs, works well, you have more packages, etc. if you can stand the fact that some binaries will only run in the chroot and not in the device.
