Hello all, I first heard of the n900 when it was first annouced and was glad to find this community. I have been visiting since, and it's great to see a community so involved and excited!

With that said, has there been any news about the way the N900 will handle notifications such as missed calls/sms/email/etc? For example, the iPhone has a pop up widow, Andriod/WebOS has a notification bar and Symbian uses the old icons on the home screen.

Does the N900 feature something similar, or something completely different? I'm hoping it is similar to Android and WebOS, since it's not intrusive and is easily accessible anywhere on the OS.

Thank you!
Frank

Architengi, I was pointing to that image too but wasn't sure if that was just the thing. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that

Quote from the link above:

"In standby mode, messages are displayed as pop-yellow leaves, which is nice, and something like a utility SMS Preview on S60.

E-mail works with MS Exchange (no problems at all), is able to automatically configure accounts for postal services (OVI, Gmail and so on). To almost no complaints, issues, everything works without any problems"

And the threaded SMS and IMs image:

Thank you!

It is a popup with preview, which is very nice IMO...

I don't think so. SMS delivery notification is a SMS by itself, IIRC (never really used this feature on any phone).
The yellow stripe more looks like a feedback from the application that the SMS was sent away.

Actually a delivery notification is not an SMS. Some phones just make it look like an SMS. My E66 just shows a notification popup when the message gets delivered, no more than that.

The yellow banners across the top of the screen are the new version of the small text boxes you would get at the top right in Maemo 4.

Certain notifications are more important than others... so phone calls will always popup "Answer" buttons for example. New e-mail.. missed calls... those popup first as small orange/yellow two line boxes at the top left of the screen next to the task switcher. If you do not tap it, the box animates itself falling into the task switcher, at which point it will start glowing white. The image you see from Eldar showing a new text message 1 minute ago is what you see when you press the task switcher button after the initial small alert.

If you pay attention to the promo videos, you can see this behavior yourself.

Hey guys, what to do if I for some reason have missed that strip notification? Would be great to have some kind of mark on delivered messages in conversation view.
