Hey guys! I was thinking this morning on how powerful the N900 is. I mean, REALLY powerful! 600mhz, 32 gigs of memory, 256 ram, and a dedicated graphics chip. OK. It's powerful, all right. My question is:

What will YOU do with such a powerful device? What will YOU do with this phone, that you can't really do with other phones? Or why are all of you picking up this device, and not the N97 or the touch pro 2 or whatever other phones.

as usual, Kent.

I am going to spend the first few weeks trying to break it. Grabbing down linux programs I love and trying to cross compile them to work on the phone.

Tuxracer anyone?

LOL. I'm thinking about if I really need this phone (which I don't. All i'd REALLY need is a phone iwth a number pad to make calls). I'm a heavy texter and instant messenger. I wonder what else I'd use this phone for?
Music
Videos (watching and recording)
Pictures (taking)
Email / IM (very heavy on this)
I'm not a big gamer, but if there are some good games available, I'm game.

and that's it. I'll make phone calls too, of course. Lol.

Mostly my usual work stuff - emails, accessing several corporate websites (I.e. 'portals') general browsing, about 15-20 phone calls a day.

When I have time I'll just play with it, see what it can really do. Can't try and break though, I'll need it too much.

IOW, pretty heavy daily use.

well, im picking it up, because i simply really like how it all turned out...
day1 i will be playing with it, adjusting things and that kind of stuff...
then i will fill it up with videos, music, pictures... then i will install some apps and games...

mainly i will be using the phone for multitasking, doing multiple things at once, just like on the pc (right now i have 26 tabs opened in Firefox, a movie downloading, songs playing and several windows open too)..i will be using the browser, IM client, playing videos, playing music, playing games a bit, widgets, reading documents, SMS, phonecalls...sometimes i will use the gps, fm, camera too...

i just like to have everything i do need and everything i might need, in one device with me on the go...

I was gonna say that
I'm a doctor, so this is going to be my primary device if I can. My notes are done on a web based system, so I'll use it to do notes and order meds online (Actually worls best on Explorer, so if anyone knows how to put explorer on here let me know). The usual stuff email, phone and texting as well.
The only down side is that because it is a new OS that not all developers have apps for, I'll also have to use my Ipod Touch. I have most of the apps for medicine on there, like Epocrates, % minute Clinic consult ont here as well. I must say that I think this is where Apple excells is those darn APPS. They are like crack. The phone itself is ok, hate the browser sometimes.
This pphone will replace my Sony X1 (Would have kept it if they had a better browser, more internal memory, and faster), and Iphone 3G(Already sold on Ebay).
