But no iPhone and no mention of Maemo either despite Nokia being a member of the Open Screen Project [ scroll down ]

Sorta strange that the N900 is now "official" but no mention. Not too surprised about Apple, in fact there's been a comment from Adobe that I found "delightful" - "Still a closed device and not much progress there"

[ CNET ] [ Gizmodo ]

HD video accelerated via GPU, among other things. I can't wait.

Hopefully Maemo will get it. HULU would be so cool!

Oh man you beat me to the news... Lol... I was wondering the same... But when they said that it will support linux do they mean maemo also? And i am 100% that the N900 will have the Flash 10.1 which will be sweet!

Oh man this makes me want the N900 even more!

Here is a press release from ARM saying there is full support for ARM devices on release Flash 10.1. Hopefully this means N900 support soon.

From what I saw in that article, Nokia and Adobe are collaborating to bring Flash to Nokia phones...which is a broader scope. Since the N900 is in fact a phone, I think we can safely say it could have the possibility of having native Flash Support. Personally, I'm ready for them to bring MUCH better compatibility for Linux so it won't be sluggish on my Ubuntu laptop.

Also, should the deal not include the N900, it might include the N<insert Harmattan device number here> instead. I know that's not what you'd want, but some things come at a price, unfortunately. Still, have faith that Nokia will find a way for the new optimized Flash to be later integrated into the N900 easily.

Here's to Adobe finally going open on SOMETHING! *raises glass of Brandy*

I was a little disappointed to see that the Nokia/Adobe press release doesn't even mention Maemo, whereas the Qualcomm/Adobe press release proudly claims that "The first consumer devices ready to support Flash Player 10.1 will be ... based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset".

Roger

Bingo. I "know" it's coming, but for it to not be explicitly named, bothers me.

Heck, even the demos of Flash 10.1 on the Palm WebOS have surfaced by now. Why wouldn't Nokia sorta ride this into the upcoming consumer release of the N900? If I were at Nokia, I would have insisted in having my upcoming product named at least once - they're part of the Open Screen Project.

I guess it's... odd from my perspective. I see an opportunity to get more hype out there about the N900.

gerbick, if too much hype is created and the device ultimately doesn't live up to the hype that was created then sales will suffer and the product will basically be a bust. Some of the best things are usually not hyped so much and just kinda creep in. The N900 already has some hype due to the YouTube advertisement seen, but it's not over-blowing it's existence like Apple does with their products...and if you've seen most of the comments on that video, you'd know that not even the best hype can save customers all the time.

The video isn't even showing off everything the N900 can do and yet people are already wanting to get rid of their iPhones and take the N900. I'd say that's pretty good in my opinion.

Anyway, to each is own and this is just my perspective on it.
