Does anyone know of a list of Apps for the N900?

This is probably premature, as the N900 is not out yet, but I'm really getting curious. Of course there's the included Apps. I saw the Fennec announcement, and there's one app on Ovi, and there's the KOffice announcement, ....

I wonder if someone's put it all together somewhere?

On another note, If we see what's available, it's easier to make requests for new apps. Is there already a thread for requests? I haven't been able to find one here.

Thanks in advance,

RWFarley

See http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/free/ for what's in the maemo extras repository.

Hmm... and all you'd have to do from the N900 is use the app manager, add the extras page to its sources (I'm guessing) and then click the .deb file and install it? :S

Err... that takes me to something I don't understand at all! I'm guessing it's not what you meant (?)

Nokia currently only lists 3 apps. And I'm not sure from the downloads section which apps are suitable for n900 and which not. I kind of got the idea that you will only know that when you log in from an n900? Which isn't very helpful for deciding whether to buy one.

Any chance the d/l section could simply star/mark items suitable for each software? Or can I just 'assume' that OS2008 will work?

I too wish there was a way to browse the archive in a more human-readable fashion.

Its really time consuming and confusing browsing the raw listing like that. Also you can't tell what each item actually does so unless you then google the application name or already know of it, you are no wiser.

Basically we need a web page which acts like a read-only package manager, so we can search/browse what is available with the description of what it does.

Maemo 5 category on http://maemo.org/downloads/ will be made available soon.

In the meantime, you can see the list of user-facing packages which:

Good to know. I have to say I am a little surprised that was not available by now.

Nokia concerned people will cancel their pre-orders if "package x" is not available at launch?

Or such as Maemo Select: http://maemo.nokia.com/maemo-select/

I'm in believe (or hoping for) that this site will be launched during (or after) the upcoming maemo summit next weekend.

I'm a new member of maemo community, so this is not inside information, just something I have read between the lines!
