Also I didn't see any pre-loaded maps in device, any clue?

More likely that will be posted upon release or will probably be updated via the air.

From what I've read on IRC, my understanding is that the usual Nokia Maps Loader client *should* work.

Problem with fMMS? Run in x-terminal: cp /tmp/fmms.log /home/user/MyDocs/
After that you'll see fmms.log in filemanager or when you connect the device to your desktop as a mass storage device.
E-mail the log to me, if you don't have the email address, drop me a PM. Thanks!

fMMS - MMS for your N900

Nokians I spoke to before the summit suggested that there may be a plan to pre-load cached data for the region in which the device is sold.

The latest version of Nokia Maps Loader fails to recognise the N900.

I hope the Ovi Maps guys update the Loader soon to support the N900 otherwise it the Maps feature is useless without a data-connection.

There seems to be a "manual" way to download 3.0 maps from the Nokia servers and copy them into the 'cities' folder on the phones. But I don't have the courage to try it out on the N900.

I wasn't sure if the N900 handled map-data identically to the S60 devices; now I will go ahead try this out. Thanks!

I have got a preview N900 now, and currently wanting to test out Maps, so will try the Map Loader route, but guess it may not work.

Also, I too would appreciate knowing how to find the firmware version seeing as *#0000# don't do anything.

Thanks in advance

What about the firmware images and flashing tools?

PLEASE tell me there's a way of performing a software update than incremental OTA updates...
