I'm about five months into my Nokia N810 and am never without it. One thing I have not yet been able to accomplish is a remote Internet connection between the NIT and my XP-PC. I tried the "LogMeIn" Labs Nokia App but I could not get it to connect with the NIT and their help desk was lacking in anything Linux. So, has anyone had a good positive experience with any particular app, and if so, does it have good instructions on how to set it up?
Thanks for any help.

Howto use VNCviewer over SSH tunnel.

That should give you a jump start

Although I prefer RDP or NX over VNC.

You could also use dyndns + DMZ (or port forwarding to be safer). This isn't recommended for Windows computers as it makes them highly vulnerable... but it would work.

Another solution might be http://mobassh.mobatek.net/en/

It depends on what you want to do. Though you should know Linux <=> Linux would work best q=

I've been using that Windows setup for a couple of months now and my computer has only been under attack like a dozen times.

Seems pretty safe to me.

It was more like step-by-step-by-step-by-miss-a-step-by-step way I followed your step-by-step-by-step setup steps.

I useed openSSH on my PC and dropbear ssh rdesktop on my N810. After upgrading to vista I had problems installing openSSH so I changed my router and installed DDWRT.

I now run SSH on my DDWRT router and it works so well I am converted.

I can even WOL my PC with SSH from my N810 when I am away from the house or office.

rdesktop also works so well I use it to brows the net when I am at home. I make fierfox full screen and it is a much faster browsing experience. (wish there were "F" keys on the n810 )

I have successfully used the logmein with both OSX and XP, what specific problem were you having?

It seems to have installed OK, and the browser tools menu shows it "enabled", however when I go to the LogMeIn page it takes my login just fine, but MyComputer doesn't show up. I have accessed the XP-PC from another XP Desktop just fine so I know the desktop program is working. Also, I'm using the factory installed browser in the N810/

I just tried on my N810 and I now have the same problem you do. I last used logmein probably 2 months ago so there must have been a change on the Logmein website. I believe it's a supported product so I'll email Logmein and see if they get back to me.

Have never used logmein, but:

You can use VNC with port-forwarding and a ip address or dynamic dns.

or better solution

use Hamachi to create a VPN (or a traditional VPN) and then you don't have to mess with the ports and security. Hamachi runs on the tablets via command line, so its not the most user friendly, but the directions are clear.
