The IMHO ideal solution for this would be to hook this into the cam app (like you can crop now)...

Actually, the Camera app is using the Photos app to do that... I spoke to a few imaging people from Maemo Devices at the Summit and they all agreed that the best place to add this functionality is in the Photos app (so you could also deal with all types of images). Then, the Camera could call the functionality, etc.


But, having a separate app for "serious" image manipulation isn't so bad either.

Yes, wanted to say that, was spending too much time with gstreamer in the past days so my subconsciousness swapped the terms.

With serious the question is always usability. Filtering, transformations are ok, but stuff where you need precision input is notoriously difficult to do without making it painful to use (even with a stylus, not to mention finger...)
