Amazon has now dropped their price to compete with Buy and Newegg. $559 for the phone so it seems that enough of us emailed Amazon telling them we were going to cancel our N900 pre-orders.

I for one am glad I stayed with Amazon...superior customer service!

Haha I knew if enough of us did they would change it. Now if they competed with Dell's price, that would give me a reason to switch from Newegg back to Amazon.

Probably not much considering Dell, Newegg, and Buy.com don't do much shipping to outside the USA if they do it at all.

I've tried two different addresses with Dell, one to NV and the other here to DC, both charge tax, which comes out to $560 for NV and $575 for DC. So either way, Amazon is still cheaper.

Oh and even though Newegg is listed under Bing's Cashback, you won't actually get that 2% back that is listed. In the little fine print, cashback doesn't apply to promotions or discounts, and since Newegg has it listed as a discounted price of the $559 you won't get anything.

Better off staying with Amazon.

Well with Dell you should use the small business option + the coupon (though it seems the coupon no longer works via web so you have to call it in).

But I already switched from Amazon to Newegg when Newegg first stated taking pre-orders for it. So no point in switching back not and putting myself at the end of the wait-list.

Cool, we are having the same prices as everyone else, and we are closer to the beginning of the wait list because of the all those good people who changed their orders to Newegg and Buy.com thinking that they will save some money doing it.

Ah, but the benefit of switching the order is that instead of being in the tail end of the Amazon wait list, you are now near the front for the Newegg waitlist. =P

So in the end it works out for everyone.

I was already ordering from amazon, but I was still going to have to pay the extra 30 bucks, so I just reordered. I don't mind moving to the back of the line. I mean, I've waited this long, I can wait a couple more days and I'll use the extra money for accessories.

I've ordered a bunch of blu-rays and books from Amazon, and they are pretty good about shipping newly released products in those categories.

Do they do as well for electronics (i.e. phones)?
