I'm wondering because I saw that TI have introduced the eZ430-Chronos development platform... which is also a sports watch, for $49. <== the price being the tempting aspect.

I understand eCoach supports the FRWD B600 and Zephyr HxM heart rate monitors presently. But I was put off previously by the cost of the FRWD, and can't source the Zephyr.

Though not supported; I just wondered if alternative heart monitor integration is trivial or not? (I mean can I detect and play -- so to speak.)

In this case it will be difficult as it does not speak Bluetooth. If you want details, ask in this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=16639 the developer (sampppa) is active there.

The Zephyr works well, and sure costs a lot less than the FRWD one.

I got mine from Zephyr direct - email them from their website and they'll send you an email with a paypal link for payment ($120US including shipping).

Any additions on compatible devices for the past 2 years since this thread started?
I am also wondering if any sufficiently accurate wrist or/and arm heart monitoring devices are available.
I don't know how is it for everybody else, but my personal issue with chest "based" monitors is that I simply can't wear them while exercising.
