If it were possible I would change my username to maemopadwan because I'm still learning

However my progress so far on my quest for the ines emulator and games so far is

1) instal emulator via N900 download from here: http://maemo.org/downloads/Maemo5/games/

But once installed I found there were no games for it. So my question now is...

How do I get games for the emulator?

Your help, advice, and input is greatly appreciated.

Also true for searching the forum:

Technically, to use a ROM (game image) you should have bought it.
If you're not feeling particularly ethical, just google around for "nes rom"

Um, yeah. About that. You might want to see this thread about the possible Nintendo lawsuit for details about the problems with emulators and games for them.

I don't think anyone can safely tell you where to find games for emulators.

Google should be able to do that for you though.

This is the only forum I've been to where people are so unhelpful.

Unwilling to share knowledge with those not as familiar with maemo.

For the record emulators were advertised by nokia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVnUUF1pXsg

Before the N900 I had a 3gs and which I sold for an inflated price on ebay to get this device. And yes, there can be no doubt the the N900 is superior to everything out there.

But we need to catch up something severe on how we treat new/less experienced members of the community

When I asked questions on the 3gs forum I received help.

When I ask for help here I get ridiculed?

What does that say about us?

While we all hope the N900/Maemo can take it's rightful place and market share for being such an delightful slice of innovation

What hope does it have if the members of it's community treat newbies as I have been?

Well, thing is, downloading the roms of most games you don't own a legal copy of is illegal. And I would guess that forwarding such info isn't allowed on this forum.

If you are wondering about such things, your best bet IS google.

They advertised the emulator. Not the games

Sharing knowledge about techie stuff, open source stuff is no problem for most here, it seems. Sharing pirate knowledge is best done through other channels!

First of all, I'm a newbie here myself, so please don't think this is any kind of attack. I've been searching through these forums quite a bit, and most of the community members seem pretty darn helpful. Any time your dealing with licensed software, there's a gray area of legality. Emulators and ROM's certainly fall into that category. Also, many of the community members here do write code and programs themselves, so it's especially important to maintain the integrity of their intellectual property. I don't think anyone was specifically trying to ridicule you, but this is a topic that has been coming up in forums frequently for at least the last 10 years. I'm sure it's been coming up longer than that, but my experience with the internet only goes back about that far lol.

I couldn't help but LOL for reals when I read this.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm unhelpful. Illegal = we aren't going to help out. You're on your own if you want to find illegal software to put on your N900. You can get the emulator, but finding things to emulate on it is your own to do. No one wants to get in trouble here.

For the record I would hit google but I'm unsure which files would work with a maemo configured emulator.

If anyone can point me in the right direction. Please email me if you feel uncomfortable sharing openly

You could do it real simple and just open google and search for nintendo +n900. Not that hard, eh?
