This is really weird. I am not exactly sure what caused this but it is quite irritating.

Got the device yesterday and proceeded to load 20+ GB of music and a bunch of wallpapers from that N900wallpapers site, as well as some apps from Extras.

One of the wallpaper packs I got was that BSG set. Thought I'd get a few of these and test them out, see how they look. Well, I am now unable to change to any other wallpaper. Changing themes does not work. Changing the wallpaper from the Photo app does not work. It shows that it changes, of course, but the desktop is stuck.
What is worse is that I deleted the files from .images (mass storage mode over USB) yet the wallpapers are still there. Tried to find the filenames across the system (terminal, as root using find) but no luck.

Reset to original settings the device, nothing.

Does anyone have any idea where the configurations files are for the desktop wallpaper? If I need to edit it manually, I will.

Anyone else know what this could be?

Just noticed that when I've got the Ovi Widget on my homescreen, when I try to change the background I lose the Ovi Widget and have to re-add it to the homescreen.

A massive issue...

Delete the accompanying .desktop file? If its malformed or reading form the incorrect place then it seems the interface to change desktops has some strange issues.

Same here.

No longer able to locate that desktop file. What I really want to know is where the desktop configuration files themselves are located...

Got fed up so used the Flasher - firmware alone did nothing. Will probably flash the eMMC now and get it over with. Disappointing.

Not what I mean - I mean the configuration files for the desktop UI itself not those that come with the backgrounds

you need to delete those .desktops what come with wallpapers if you have any.
i had this trouble yesterday with unable to change wallpaper and widgets going missing, today some one posted the reasons why in another thread

Edit: heres solution to .desktop files thanks to qwerty12,
rather delete or edit them, http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=28

Hmm, so delete all of them? I can try that and see what happens.

Right now I can only change the background when the USB cable is plugged into the handset.

Looks like a return is coming up...
