I've problems with my Buffalo Airstation WBR2-G54S with
N900. In powersavemode (max) I've high ping times (50ms)
and disconnects. So websurfing is very bad.
Setting powersavemode to medium solves the problem
(3ms) and no disconnects.
Laptop and N800 work without problems with this AP.

Connecting N900 at the office gives no problem.

So there seem to be some problems with powersave mode.

Isn't it a give away in the name?

Max PowerSaving = Low performance = High ping
Min PowerSaving = Max performance = Low ping

I don't understand your wireless issue.

connection drops = no performance = no ping

its simple unusable unless you find the power settings
deep in the settings.

I am with the OP on this. Wifi at my house and places I have been that have open wifi is weak to useless at default, but good at medium setting.

I wish there was a way to do the same thing with GPRS, since the N900 has the weakest reception of any phone I or my family has.

AMAZING device, but weak a55 GPRS radio.

Yeah, it is a known bug. Powersave=Medium solves the disconnects problem, but it sucks your battery dry pretty quickly.

I always recommend the Cisco WRT-54GL running DD-WRT firmware to people. It is the Geek's Choice, and the N900 works flawlessly with it.

Not necessarily noob safe, but safe if you follow directions. The bigger problem is since Linksys knows people buy the routers just to flash DD-WRT firmware on there, they jacked up the prices..

Folks,

I am bit confused about the PowerSave feature. I have an USA model and I only have a check box for enabling or disabling powersave mode. I can't select different levels of powersave....

What are the steps to set the different levels of powersave?

Thanks

The feature we're talking here about is only the part of
powersave regarding the wlan connection.

You've to go:
- Settings
- Internet connections
- Connections
- Select the Wlan Connection
- Settings
- Forward, Forward, Forward
- Advanced
- Tab Other
- Powersavemode

This is what I called "deep in the settings"

Good: You can do this setting based on the Wlan you use.
So at work I use best powersave mode, at home medium.

But the default has to be medium. As it's no fun to go to a location
with a foreign wlan. You never now if it's a Problem of the signal/inteference or the powersave mode.
Adding 30-40ms to the latency might kill your skype/sip
experience...

If this is a known bug, are they fixing it? If I am in the same room as my router and it disconnects or "connects" but does not move data in either direction, I know there is a problem when medium makes it work.

I have yet to find a place where the default setting is reliable. At medium setting, the signal is slightly better than the G1- at default, it is weaker (that is bad, since G1 wifi sux).
