I filed bug #6507 to get it fixed, but am I the only one hit by this? Was this just untested or does it work in some browsers (e.g. and notoriously IE)?
It's fixed:
"Indeed, we put raw € and £ characters on the page, which was not very
attractive - we should replace them with € and £ tomorrow morning
(3/12/09). The page was broken because we set inserted '\\' into the myself
database, but mysql was escaping the \\ to \ - which then ended up being
inserted into the web page. That should be fixed by inserting '\\\\' as the
candidate."
In other news, what's the context for this? is this for the keyboard, fonts, on-screen keyboard, handwriing character recognition?

Umm, what?
