I ordered off of Amazon a long time ago. They recently emailed me saying that my phone will arrive Dec 9. Was wondering what the return policy on the phone is like. If I open it and try it and dont like it, does Amazon allow full refunds? thanks.

I returned the N900 I ordered from Amazon and had no issues at all. They were very easy to work with.

30 days -

Returning Cell Phones

You may return a cell phone within the first 30 days after delivery. When we receive your return, we'll issue the appropriate refund and send you an e-mail confirming the refund amount. For U.S. customers we will deduct the cost of return shipping from your refund if you use our postage-paid return label, unless the return is a result of our error. It typically takes up to two weeks to process cell phone returns after they arrive at our returns center. If you haven't received your refund after this period, please contact us so that we can further research the issue.

The link above doesn't say anything about it needing to be unopened. I think if it's unopened they will take it no questions asked but if it is opened it has to be "like new" IE - have the box etc otherwise you need to contact them and work it out before you send it in. Mine was open and I didn't have any troubles. (Of course it was defective.)

I've returned open stuff before to Amazon, and I just had to fill out a form online about why I was returning it. I never had to talk to or contact customer service, it was all done through their website.

I sent an email specifically asking about returning the n900, and as long as it's in good condition, the max they would charge is a $15 restocking fee. Below is the email from them:

Hello,

I understand that you would like to know our return policy on the purchase of "Nokia N900"

In general, we issue a full refund when an item is returned in new condition as long as the carrier receives the returned package within 30 days of the day you received it from us. During the holiday season, we'll accept returns of items shipped between November 1 and December 31, 2009 until January 31, 2010.

For instructions on the return process and information on where to ship your item, visit our online Returns Center:

http://www.amazon.com/returns

You won't be able to print a mailing label online since it's been more than 30 days since you received the items. However, you'll find information about our returns policy and instructions for mailing your return in the Returns Center.

We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error. Please know that if the return is not of our error you will be charged the restocking of $15.00 from your refund.

I hope this helps. We hope to see you again soon.

Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:

I've also been waiting on my phone forever from amazon, and have the same thought - maybe I don't want it after tall this time.

I've returned many things to amazon, and have every reason to expect the usual no trouble return.
