To begin with...

The reason I am posting this here is because several people have got their N900s from the NFS in Regent Street.

This will affect where they can go for warranty repairs & information etc.

Nokia to Close London Flagship Store

Not particularly surprising given the global economic downturn... a bummer though. hope they don't close the NYC flagship, since that's where I got my n900 from.

The rent on the NYC flagship must be pretty high. Also the layout of the store isn't that great. I bet 80% of the customers never walk to the second floor yet its about 50% of the overrall space! It opened during the boom so it was probably the best space/layout they could get at the time...

The place seems way overstaffed also...

I ordered my N900 from there about 2.5hrs ago. GREAT.

Any idea who will be responsible for repairs/warranty if one of the many hardware bugs happens to affect me?

There are many Nokia Certified repair shops throughout London, and when you have valid warranty you can send your device to specific locations. They don't actually repair them in the shops, so it's not a big issue for owners.

Grand, so it's likely I can take it to my local Nokia (MPD run) store then I guess? I'm actually from Swindon so a London store isn't actually convenient for me- they just had them in stock

Yup, I had an N810 that I bought in the US a few years ago, had an issue with the screen some year ago, and a Carphone Warehouse shop gave me the details of Nokia Support that I had to contact. Called them, and I could send in my device no problem (warranty had run out, so I would've had to pay for the repair had I gone through with it).

Edit: I ended up repairing the N810 myself, as I couldn't be bothered sending it away for a couple of weeks.

Nice, that's a bit more comforting. Fingers crossed I won't ever need to take it back though of course!

I wished they'd close them all and open smaller stores in more major cities. Like the Best But Mobile stores in the malls. We in the US need more exposure, not a showcase in two cities. Dallas-Fort Worth, LA, Silicon Valley, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Austin, and other cities need stores, too.

That London store had a rep for bad customer service. So I'm not surprised, but maybe they should sacked the manager and not closed the store.
