I have inserted 8GB microsd card on my N900 but I cannot see that extra 8GB anywhere. IN the memory inside settings it shows N900 and installable memory?

And how do I make the phone app open automatically when switched to portrait mode?

You have to make sure the contacts of the microSD card don't have dirt on them and it is correctly seated - Also the back cover must be closed for the microSD to mount.

For turning control you specify it in the Phone app, from the title menu select - "Turning Control":

more..-> File management will show you the additional mem.

Not sure what you mean by app showing in ortrait mode. Portrait mode only works when you are using the phone.

ive had problems (even still) with my memory card contents not showing up in media player although it would show up under file mgr. This happens sometimes, when i disconnect the n900 from the pc after its been in "mass storage" mode. Anyway i had to reboot N900. once i did that all apps would see contents of the card. If you havent formatted the card, remove any data you have stored on it, copy to pc, and reformat it. I formatted it with the phone but i assume u can use your pc too, but again, i let the n900 do it

In a terminal, type:
Code:

df -h /media/mmc1
Mine shows:
Code:
~ $ df -h /media/mmc1
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcblk1p1 7.6G 1.6G 6.0G 21% /media/mmc1
If your card is not mounted, you will get an error message.

I have the same problem
typed the command above and got:

FileSystem
ed on
rootfs 227.8M

I re-seatted the card many times now. And also clean the card. Formatted it to Fat32 using -Quick format on WIndows7. But still not showing up. The memory card work on other phone though.
