I often wonder why this isn't as common for all phones since this is not the only phone to have a front facing camer... with the N8x0's cameras why isnt this something that already just works

its because the front camera was/is being used for internet video calls, not 3g ones. I really hope they get it to work soon as in some situations a video call could save A LOT of time.

Other phones might have it but how many with Linux as their core OS? Maemo is new to video calling though I agree I would have expect the front camera to be working. I believe there was mention of a codec issue though.

I expect the actual 3G video calling would be low on the agenda as it isn't a well used feature of 3G networks, much to the annoyance of the network operators.

I agree. Would love to see it worked out; however after it working only on Gizmo5 to Gizmo5 and not universally supported in all other IM protocols nor Skype seriously is something that bothers me.

Would love to see the N8X0 get its due as well as the N900.

i think that is more a driver/configuration problem. thats like saying the new video card you just put in your coputer is crappy but you were using the generic vga drivers. just wait for the firmware update.

Well N810 GTalk call to the N900 results in receiving Video just has a hissy fit when you try to send it back from the N900.
