the music player only seens to recogniswe album art that has been embeddded into the mp3 id tag (i do this using media monkey on windows, not found a way for mac yet) but becuase the album arts are norfmal jpeg pictures they also show up in the photo gallery

still locking for a way maybe there is a file format extension spedcific to album argt that only the media player would recognise

I'm guessing this would be something you'd want to change in Tracker's config? I haven't looked into it, but I think that might help you.

Do you happen to have files such as folder.jpg or such? If you have purchased the tracks online, these kind of album art pictures may have come along your download.

If you put it in a directory that's indexed by tracker, it has to show up with all the other image files. If you don't want this, just put it somewhere else. What's the problem?

The problem is that it is not intuitive...

Took me a while also to understand why this was happening. I added my mp3 and then suddenly the art work was in my picture app?

There should be a "default folder" for it in settings so it would just pick up the pictures from this folder. And yes, I know about showing the standard folder for camera I just think it is more polished this way.

If you delete them from the photos gallery, they will still be in the media player

First, I think some people might even want to see all of their image files in the image viewer and complain if it was different.

But it turns out from various threads in this forum hat there is a common theme: Some users just don't want all media on their N900 indexed by tracker. (Some want to prevent certain videos from showing in the media player, you don't want "album art" you store as separate files in the image viewer...)

They all can be solved by configuring tracker, but there's no UI to do this.
So I think this is what we need. A UI for tracker. It must not tell users that it's a UI for tracker, because they won't know what tracker is and what is mean by "exclude from indexing". It should refer to media player and image viewer and give some hints like "add directories you want to hide from meida player here".
(An advanced settings dialog should then allow to control all aspects of tracker.)
