Hi all,

I looked thru the forums and can't seem to find an answer. Thought I post it here and hope someone can help.

I set up my hotmail email account on the N900 using the Email App. My questions are:

1) Is there a way to only retrieve new emails going forward? Right now I got hundreds of old (already read items) emails in my inbox, and I only want the N900 to retrieve new emails from now on. Is there a way to do this?

2) Is there a way I can make the N900 prompt me to sign in my password for the hotmail account everytime I want to use the Email App? Because right now it automatically signs me in. I want a little more security just in case I lose my phone and someone picked it up would be able to read my emails, would like to safe guard myself in that situation.

Thanks.

If you clear the password out of the settings then it should prompt you each time. If you are using Pop3 then once retrieved to the handset it should only retrieve new ones from now on.

1) Each time it Sends/Recieves it downloads any new messages. If you only want to see new messages (ie new to the server, not to the device) then just go ahead and make sure you have Leave Messages On Server checked (under Hotmail/Edit Account) and then delete everything currently in your inbox. It will delete them only from your n900's email app while leaving them on the hotmail server.

2) To make the app prompt you for a password each time, just go to the same Hotmail / Edit Account page and delete your password. It appears in two places on the same page. Once near the top, and again near the bottom under SMTP servers. It may not be necessary to delete both of them but you might as well I guess.

FWIW, I was able to figure all this out on my own just now. I encourage you to explore your device and don't be afraid to make changes.

When I delete all emails from Inbox, it downloads the same messages again. (Leave messages is checked) What is the problem?

Why N900 don't receive only new emails from server?

I was gonna post a similar post as well.
The problem I have is that my hotmail on the phone does not sync with the actual hotmail emails such as READ emails.

right now my phone says I have 100 unread emails and my hotmail says I have 2.

how I can sync them up?

Also I have the mail widget on my desktop. that is giving me notices for new mails on my hotmail and exchange.

how can I have separate widgets for each mail box?
