hi, I've had a 770 for a little while, I think i got it in august... but had to get a replacement a little while ago because it stopped working, so my question is, if i get the n800, what the best thing to do with my recent 770?

I think my old Nokia 770 will get a nice place in my car running Navicore and Canola. But maybe it will also remain my fav eBook reader. The N800 doesn't look like it has the perfect eBook reader form factor.

Personally, I'll probably give my 770 away now that I have an N800. However, that may be a while as 3rd party software compatibility issues are ironed out.

Then again, I may look into using it as a home automation controller or some other similar use. *shrug*

If -- and right now that's a really huge "if"[*] -- so, if I ever get a N800, I'd keep my 770 as a dedicated bookreader. It's really good at that (amazing screen and unbelievable battery life, in the dark at the lowest screen setting).

I'd never give it away, because I just won't have anyone else have it. It's mine, I tell you!!! My precioussss....

[*] Here's the thing: the N800 may be faster and have more memory, but nobody seems to be able to confirm that it has the same battery life as the 770, and I couldn't live with less juice. Then there's the thing about the operating system: It seems to be the same ITOS2006 we have now, with, apparently, added (again!) incompatibility of applications; and there's no mention of a new, less sucky, handwriting recognition engine, although rumours of XT9 were afoot on the forum some time ago. And finally, the aesthetics: the N800 is definitely uglier than the 770. I'd have to move to another country if I was going to use it. Fortunately, I'm already doing that, so its ugliness at least is not going to be a show-stopper.

Nooooo, that's not a definite. It's an opinion.

I think the N800 is far better looking.

According to some user the OS is not ITOS2006 but ITOS 2007 or whatever they call it. Nokia just released Maemo 3.0 for developing on the new OS. But I still hope they'll also release a new firmware for the Nokia 770.

Then I have a question to somebody who knows more (Texrat? ). What about Navicore? Will it be compatible with the new OS (or even the N800), or will there be an update, or will the Nokia 770 stay as it is at ITOS2006?
