Nokia could help pay dev costs to stimulate interest, but given Nokia has basically left the Maemo 5 dev community to fend for themselves and provides no dev or marketing support, prospects do not look good.

hi Farruk, sorry to be a pain, but most people will not be able to read your post because:
a) it is quite poorly written, and really hard to understand what you are saying
b) People like me using dark theme's can not rea d dark blueon Black backgrounds!

Unfortunatley i'm not sure what you really mean above, and have never heard of Bada before.

Do EA and Capcom make similar games for other mobile device? - do they design for linux etc? - i think you might want to go away and research it?

The OP does bring up a good point in that who IS developing commercial apps for Maemo 5? For a high profile device, Nokia does not seem to be breaking their backs to stimulate interest. Can any devs confirm that Nokia is providing any resources from their dev and marketing teams and are functioning as part of the dev community.

Again, that support by Apple and Google is what set the foundation for their app markets. Not seeing much effort by Nokia, but I could be wrong.

N900 would be sweet for some great games, but all I am seeing are (very much appreciated) ports. I love Duke Nukem

They probably won't, the market share of Maemo5 devices will likely remain very small compared to android and the likes.
Big companies target big market shares, and I'm not even sure android phones is a market share big enough for EA or Capcom.

This is quite a misconception we have here...

My big mobile computer aka 15" laptop has a core 2 duo totaling 6ghz with 4gb ddr3 and geforce 260M that will soon be upgraded to 280M.

Conclusion1:
My mobile computer runs any game out there better than any console out there, with better graphic details and higher framerates.
If I had to play GTA4 on a PS3, the low texture detail, would make my eyes bleed.

Conclusion2:
Some smalltime fruit-name-companies out there starting with the letter "A" (like Apple) DO rely throughly on game development for their platforms, especially because a vast segment of customers are teenagers. I have indeed seen nokia neglecting this segment since forever, leaving ngage1 to die and making a mockery out of ngage2.

Conclusion3:
I hope never to get the feeling of a winmo/android when holding a maemo/symbian in my hand. If that ever happens I'm gonna get me a nice dual-band monochrome lcd phone!
