Hi All,

recently I was toying with my old project which is a billiard simulator I wrote for Windows, and I come up with the idea of porting it to maemo. Since the original program was written for Windows with heavy usage of system specific APIs and OpenGL, the porting process generally is a code snippets copy-paste process combined with developing of new parts rather than just porting.

Today I uploaded a first prototype of the billiard game to Diablo/OS2008 extras repo. Currently it only gives some representation of game physics and I would be glad to receive any feedback about it.

You can install it by browsing available apps via package manager, searching for "opool", or using this install link:

Any feedback about the game physics is very welcome.

I will check it out late today, I am glad you are deving for OS2008. I've also been aching for a functional pool game! BTW I have an old project I wanted to get going a long time ago, maybe this can inspire you http://pool4all.sourceforge.net/ I was responsible for the overall design and art

Alright so I tried it out. The physics are a good start but a couple things I noticed:

- the balls take awhile to come to a stop. This of course would be a friction adjustment. You may want to evaulate some pool break shot videos on YouTube for tweaking.

- when using English downward to spin the ball back, it REALLY spins back, almost defying pysics. From what I recall, it doesn't spring back so hard and so far.

Once you're at the graphical stage let me know, I would love to adapt my aforementioned project graphics with this project if you would like

Thank you for feedback! I will try to adjust friction and other parameters to be more realistic. Evaluating YouTube videos is a good idea.

You've made nice screens for you project. Thanks for help offer, I will keep you in mind when I need graphics.

This seems nice! Would it be hard to port for Maemo 5 in future?

If it becomes something finished, it will be ported to Maemo 5, of course :-)
