Hey guys,

I'm uploading my mp3s to my N900. Each song has its cover art attached. I noticed that when an album by different artists has the same name, the media player merges the album covers and then puts a "various artists" below. Is there a way to fix this? Two different artists, two different covers, but the album title (by chance) is the same.

Hope you can help...

Cheers.

There are two bugs open about this:

#6911 - Albums with the same name but by different artists are mixed together
#7263 - Media player uses space as artist when looking up artwork

I think these are the same bug, so please vote on them.

Ok, I just tried MediaMonkey. Same issue. Here's an example:

Ricky Martin, Life, I don't care.
Andy Hunter, Life, Come on.
Any artist, Life, any song.

I always get the cover art from Andy Hunter album, even if I choose to play the song from the artist or song list.

Any idea? I know I could change the album name to "Life (2)" or something like that, but I guess that's not the way it should be, right?

It's not strictly related to those very mp3s. Try with two mp3s you already have: just tag them with the same album name, but associate two different cover arts. See what happens...

It's nothing to do with the tagger, either. It ignores the artist name when storing/looking-up albums.

Comment #4 even points to the line of code in question: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7263#c4
