With all the babble about problems here, there, and everywhere....how about a simple survey to get a clear picture of peoples' opinions of their N900s?

EDIT: I'll just add that we're on the honor system here - this poll is for people that actually own an N900

EDIT2: To be honest, I'm expecting "minor niggles" to win, followed by "no complaints" with a sizable gap until "serious doubts".

EDIT3: So far, the stats are falling out the way I expected them to.

Could be a good idea, but you may have a problem....... You will find most people voting are ones having issues and on the forums, a lot of people have no issues, and therefore do not come on here as often. So it would be very hard to tell how accurate the poll is. In my opinion anyway

agree! also if you pay attention most of the people who have problems are those who bought first batch of n900s those who recently got it seems to enjoy their device more w/ less issues ...

I kept the poll anonymous, but if people want to chime in with why they voted a certain way, that's great - it adds context.

I voted "no complaints" despite the known firmware/software issues....as these are all things that can be fixed in an open-source world

The "loose/detached USB clip" issue concerned me for a while, but I am naturally careful with such things anyway....and mine seems to be firmly attached. Nevertheless, Texrat's warning about being careful with the USB/power cable is well heeded!

First batch from where? - as us in the UK had quite a few issues, and got them quite a bit after the US...

I was pretty early in the UK lot, and cross fingers, no problems yet.....

But true, it does seem something seems better in the newer batches.

Until now, no problems at all. Except the Wi-Fi bug (that drains the battery super fast even when disconnected) i've no complains with hardware issues.

I voted no complaints.I love my N900 the hardware is solid and the software is evolving nicely with the help of the Maemo community!

Texrat's warning about being careful with the USB/power cable is well heeded!
Had only just heard of this but I also treat all my devices with care and after I read on Texrat blog 'Nokia reports that the problem was fixed for production devices' i can sleep soundly

i voted minor niggles....
i love my phone...errr internet tablet with phone fuctionality!!!
reason for my vote is that as of now....i believe the device isnt perfect(phone wise) and a few little "darn thats not working as it should" or "darn that option is missing".....but i believe my vote will change within 2 fw updates.....

I think Minor niggles is a fair assessment. Truth be told, I've not had any high-end phone device that faired better then minor niggles in the past 6 years (including several Nokia devices, that Fruit company, a G1, and three iterations of HTC/WinMo phones.) I don't think any of them really rated below that either, even the old HTC Apache/6700 running WinMo 5.
