Hello,

I got a Nokia N900 and since a couple of days I got the problem that all my calendar entries are lost, but the reminders still appear for these entries. Also all program catalogs disappeared.

Now today I checked the running processes and saw that some processes are running twice. For example the following processes are running twice:

/usr/bin/Calendar
/usr/bin/osso-xterm
/usr/bin/rtcom-messaging-ui
/usr/bin/worldclock

The list goes on.

Does someone have an idea what could have caused the processes to run twice or if this is normal?

Maybe the two running /usr/bin/Calendar processes made my calendar entries disappear but keep the reminders appearing?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Cheers,

Sascha

I'm not sure about the doubled processes, but here's something to check for your missing calendar entries. First of all, if the reminders are appearing, then it stands to reason that the entries haven't actually been deleted. Realizing that, the first thing I would check is [Menu]->Options->Manage Calendars, and make sure that none of them are hidden.
The program catalogs disappearing could just be because the lists got borked (That happened to me a few hours ago). I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but I believe the maemo.org servers have had some hiccups lately, and AFAIK they're being dealt with. The app manager doesn't give terribly useful errors when that sort of thing happens, presumably because they wouldn't be useful to Joe User. That said, just showing a blank window is kind of useless too. If nobody has, maybe file a bug on that at bugs.maemo.org - but if you do, probably set the Severity option to "enhancement", as it's more of a usability issue than a bug per se.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your answers!

No, my calendars are not only hidden, there are not even entries for my calendars. Also I had the smart calendar for birthdays activated before and then it disappeared all of sudden (together with the other calendars I had configured) and I had to readd it (Not only uncheck hidden!!).

You seem to be right with the programm catalogs. They are back now. Confusing behavior...

Maybe someone with an Nokia N900 could open the bash and check with "ps ax" if the mentioned processes are also running twice?

Yes, they are :S
I don't recall seeing that before, and I'm not entirely sure why. I don't seem to be having any problems, though.

I think they could be threads

I have some double processes running, not sure why but I'm not too familiar with maemo.

@Ignacius: Actually I don't think ps shows threads as the ps-command is about processes not threads. But I could be wrong of course.

Depends on whether they're using NPTL or the older linux threads. - NPTL threads won't show up in ps, whereas linux threads will. As size is an issue on the N900, it could well be using ulibc and linux threads.

"getconf GNU_LIBPTHREAD_VERSION" results in "NPTL 2.5". So this also can't be it.
