Not sure if someone tried that before but I have a Buffalo Terastation (older model) with the PCast option and I was finally able to access files from that by enabling the PCast server and use the brwoser to get to the file which will be then picked up and streamed by the builtin N900 player.

Now I have to figure out how I see the contents of the directories and the directoy structure. Right now I have to jump directly on a file otherwise I get a static LinkTheater browser page which is non operational in the N900 browser.
