Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else, I ran a couple searches and came up empty handed. Earlier today I tried to update my maemo-org hildon theme and the update was unsuccessful. The theme currently works fine, however I am unable to update or uninstall it using the application manager. I was wondering if one of the more linux savvy of you could help me with a x-terminal command to try and remove the theme so I can fix this and have peace of mind?

Thanks

First off this is why you are really you should not get stuff from extras-devel unless you know how to use terminal. What version of maemo-org do you have? I suggest on my themes only update to newest one in testing. I'm working on a new way of packaging and this version has many bugs in it.

this was my fault, wasn't paying attention when I performed the update as to where it was coming from. Currently I have maemo-org 1.1-3.

For the most part I do know my way around the terminal, had to learn linux for the computer science classes I took. while I don't know all of the commands I do understand what they do and how they work, I've just never memorized them as linux has never been my primary os.

Thanks for your help, love the theme.

I ran into the same problem and tried different apt-get and dpkg commands. The only thing that worked for me was to download the version from the testing repository (maemo-org_1.0-3_all.deb) through the browser and doing a manual install with:

dpkg -i maemo-org_1.0-3_all.deb

(after which I actually uninstalled the theme without problems)

Hope this helps

I have the same problem. I uninstalled the Maemo.org theme, but it still shows up as an available choice when I goto change my themes. I have another theme that I had the exact same error with. I'm just worried all this extra stuff that should've been removed is slowing my N900 down. Could you please post some instructions on 'how to remove a theme' maybe in xterminal or in mass storage mode from a pc? I dunno. You would know. Thank you for any help whatsoever you may have...

I can confirm this problem, and the fix.

Open the browser in N900, and navigate to:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-t..._1.0-3_all.deb

Download it, save it to N900.

open xterm:

sudo gainroot

cd MyDocs/

dpkg -i maemo-org_1.0-3_all.deb

ignore all errors, it should install with success.

close xterm.

uninstall via app manager.
