This has been an ongoing issue since I received my N900. There has been no video. The include '9' trailer or the 'N900' video have NEVER played. even the bootup handholding video does does not play.

During the first few days I owned it the handholding did play a few times but with the video out of sequence with the music.

I downloaded the mplayer software and it worked for a while, but after the PR1.1 that stopped, and one quicktime 'mov' file did play a bit with the media player, but the sound doesn't work correctly. uninstalling and reinstalling did not change anything but SIB now hangs.

During the first few days, I saw some flash messages indicating the one (or more) of the gstream libraries was corrupt or invalid.

Any suggestions?

tracker database might be corrupt. try from xterm
>tracker-processes - r

if that does not help try and run mplayer from xterm and see if you get meaningfull error messages.

>mplayer -v video.mp4

replace video.mp4 with you video file name.

you may also have hardware problem.

tried the tracker-processes - r before, and I did again, it helps the media player to find where I put the video, but all I get for the '9' trailer is the row of dots back and forth, same one I get a boot up.

After I put the sample in a file system I could see from the terminal, the mplayer could play the '9.mp4' file, but the sound did NOT sync and one of the messages was telling me that my system was too slow to play the sample.

so No Joy

Any other Ideas?

I have downloaded KMPlayer and it plays fine.

I don't think it's hardware, but it could be directory structure. How is the file system supposed to look. I have a suspicious 'Mac OS' directory with various 'link/shortcuts' in it. I can't imagine why there would be a 'Mac OS' directory in a linux system.

Have you already tried to reflash because that sounds really like an abnormal issue.

I have not reflashed, I tried to download the flashing software and the images but they timed out, probably due to the servers being down.

That is the next step though.

Yeah, the repos are down, but there are torrent mirrors up for the files.
